  • Etymology :
    - Memecylon: From the Greek name used by Dioscorides and by Pliny for the fruit of the strawberry tree, Arbutus unedo.
    - Umbellatum: From the latin umbellate, umbella, umbellae, literally "a parasol". The pedicels of the inflorescence are all rising from the same point.
