The leaves of Gmelina asiatica grow opposite on the stem.
The leaf is simple, bright green-coloured above and paler beneath. The leaf is coriaceous and glabrous on both sides (some minute hairs on the margins and on the midrib beneath).
The leaves have a 0.7-1 cm long and pubescent petiole.
The leaf of Gmelina asiatica is 2-3 cm long and 1.5-2 cm wide. The shape of the blade is very variable (obovate, spatulate, ellipsoid and sometimes 3-lobed), the apex is obtuse, the base is cuneate and the margins are entire.
The venation of the leaf is reticulate with a prominent midrib.
